St Mary's College Negombo Sri Lanka OBA - U.K. Branch
Annual Dinner Dance
On 28th October 2017 RT. Rev Fr. Prasanna Rodrigo, an old boy of St Mary's was the chief guest. He was flown from Sri Lanka to grace this occasion. In line with Sri Lankan tradition, the oil lamp was lit followed by the president Neville Peiris's inaugural speech. The guest of honour, proprietor of GG shipping Mr & Mrs Gerard Fernando were honoured with the presentation of bouquet of flowers. Leading musical group "Exceed" lead the crowd to an absolute ecstatic mood to dominate the dancing floor. Mr Edirisooriya of "Be My Guest" caterers supplied the finger licking food. Each table was supplied with free two bottle of wine and lager to the mere satisfaction of a wonderful audience.

To give a bit of variety for the show, a lemon cake donated by Mrs. Namali Fernando was auctioned which brought in eager participation of the audience. However the cynosure of the event was the comedy act "Aarame Magula" performed by Jesmond, Amitha and Dilroni. The raffle draw brought in much enthusiasm.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Jesmond Fernando, extending a bouquet of thanks to all participants for their continued support. Special mentions were made for unequivocal support of the Vanan family, and Mr & Mrs Elilan Somas although they were not present.

High praises were extended to members Roy Jayakody, Tilly Peiris, Jude Perera, Aruna Perera, and Medone Fernando without whom the event would not have been success. A special mention was made for Roy Jayakody's Vice President Leslie Fernando's tireless efforts.

All in all the 27th year Dinner Dance was one to remember which brought into the culmination, of the realisations of Christian values of Brotherhood which the Alma Mater is proud of.
