The Sri Lankan Football Organization, UK Donates
Football Equipment To The Hatton Football League Of Sri Lanka
By Randi Gunapala

On the 29th October 2016, the Sri Lankan Football Organization, UK (SLFO-UK) donated football equipment to the Hatton Football League of Sri Lanka at the Hatton Danbar Grounds in Hatton, Sri Lanka.

The chief guest at the donation ceremony at the Hatton Danbar Grounds was the President of the Sri Lanka Football Federation, Mr. Anura De Silva. Other guests present on the occasion included the Youth Development Director, Mr. Chaminda Stanwall and Mr. Ranjith Katuwana from the SLFO-UK. The Hatton Football League President Dr. A. Nandakumar, the Secretary of the League, Mr. Hector Silva, the Treasurer Mr. B.W.H. Silva, the Vice Presidents of the League and 100 to 150 youth football players also participated at the ceremony. The Hatton Football League was established in 1952. The present club has 34 affiliated clubs and 100-200 trainee youth football players.

This is the seventh such donation of football equipment by the Sri Lankan Football Organization, UK to a football League in Sri Lanka in order to aid youth football development, especially in the rural areas of Sri Lanka. We commenced donating football equipment to improve youth football in the rural areas of Sri Lanka in 2011, with welcome and crucial support from football enthusiasts resident here in the UK. Past donations took place in Polonnaruwa, Badulla, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Mannar and to the Saunders Football Club in Sri Lanka.

We would like to thank our greatest supporter and definitely the best travel company catering to the Sri Lankan community here in the UK, Duke Court Travel, all SLFO - UK members and friends in making this endeavour a great success. In Sri Lanka, the crucial support of Sirasa TV, Mr. Kingsley Rathnayaka, the Maltras International Tea Company in Kaduwela, Mr. Ajith Malwatta is also much appreciated.
