Paris Bakmaha Ulela
Under the able guidance of the Head of the Paris International Buddhist Centre and the Chief Sangha Nayaka of France Most Venerable Parawahera Chandarathana Nayaka Thera the annual Sinhala New Year festival, Paris Bakmaha Ulela, was held on the 23rd Sunday at the Gymnase Paul Simon Centre in Le Bourget, Paris.

The day long programme started with the traditional Sinhala New Year rituals such as boiling the milk and applying specially prepared oil, Hisa Thel Gama. The traditional new year game followed. This year there were more than 20 items of traditional games that children as well as the adults took part with great enthusiasm.

The Ambassador for Sri Lanka in France H.E. Thilak Ranaviraja was the Chief Guest. The Mayor of the city of Le Bourget also attended the Bak Maha Ulela. Days programme concluded with a special talk by Brother Charles Thomas.

Head of Dhammachakka Buddhist Vihara in Paris, Ven. Kongasdeniye Ananda Nayaka Thera, Head of Paris Jethavana Buddhist Vihara Ven. Murungasyaye Gnanissara Nayaka Thera, Ven. Mapalagama Jinaananda Thera, Ven. Ellewewe Ananda Thera, Ven. Samadhigama Vimalajothi Thera, Ven. Kendawinne Rahula Thera, Ven. Balangoda Upashantha Thera, ven Kempane Anuruddha and a large number of Sri Lankan and French children and parents attended the programme.
