Medical Aid to Sri Lanka New Year Dinner/Dance on March 25
Medical Aid to Sri Lanka (MASL) is a UK registered charity dedicated to providing essential medical equipment to government hospitals in Sri Lanka. The charity works closely with local doctors to identify the immediate needs of the hospitals before deciding on projects. Moreover, members of the charity do follow-up visits and often take further action to ensure that all donated equipment are utilized to their full potential. It must, however, be emphasized that costs of these trips as well as other administration fees are borne by MASL members themselves and that all donations go towards the purchase of medical equipment. Recent projects include Kidney Dialysis machines to Padaviya hospital, Ultrasound machines to Kebithigollawa, Kandy and Galle hospitals, and lenses for cataract operations in Moneragala and other areas. We at MASL express our sincere thanks to all our generous donors who made these projects possible.

Our initiatives for this year include a ventilator and incubator for the premature baby unit of the Castle Street Maternity Hospital that performs over 16000 deliveries per year and anaesthetic equipment to facilitate emergency surgery at the Maravilla Base Hospital. Our long-term commitments to cataract operations and hygiene at Vajira children's home continue as usual.

A great way to support these really worthwhile projects while having lots of fun is by coming to the MASL Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration on the 25th March at Allum hall in Borehamwood WD6 3PJ. You can enjoy a delicious Sri Lankan meal and dance late into the evening to the music of Sky High. Alcoholic drinks are available from an in-house bar. There is plenty of free car parking space, and the Elstree & Borehamwood railway station, which is just 24 minutes from London St Pancras, is within easy walking distance.

Tickets are priced at £35 for adults, £17.50 for youngsters between the ages of 6 and 18 and free for children under 6.
