CRAWLEY TAMILS CELEBRATED KRISHNEA'S BIRTHDAY (JANAMASHTAMI)
WORSHIPPING KRISHNA AS A CHILD, LOVER, GOD & PHILOSOPHER
The worshippers of Lord Krishna gathered at the Swana kamdchi Amman Temple on 2nd of September, 2018 around 5pm and continued till late in the night celebrating Krishna Jayanthie for the 8th successive year at this temple.

This Hindu festival of Janamasthami marks the auspicious birthday of Lord Krishna who appeared in Vrindavan over 5000 years ago as the incarnation of Maha Vishnu. Krishna is considered to be one of the lord Vishnu's most glorious incarnations. He is popularly known as a naughty child, an enthralling flute player, an inspired cow head, a divine lover, a destroyer of demons and clever diplomat- all rolled in one. There is no question of him being the ideal in all his relationships-as a son, friend, disciple, brother and husband.

Celebrations were held at the temple on a grand scale with pomp and splendor. In addition to the special poojas to the lord as part of the cultural program me children took part in various events depicting the life of baby Krishna and elders singing devotional songs praising the lord.

The highlight of the celebrations was the dance performed by the 2 sisters, Myura Sanjeevan and Ramya Sanjeevan as epic characters of Yasoda by Myura & baby Krishna by Ramya. This dance by the 2 sisters held the congregation spellbound. Ramya as a 4-year-old child took part in such an event, for the first time in this temple, whereas her older sister Myura, a versatile dancer has Performed many dance programs at this temple each year, when celebrating Krishna's birthday.

The climax of the celebrations was the Uriyadi Utchavam performed by the children depicting, baby Krishna going with his friends to the neighborhood and stealing butter and cow milk, kept in an earthen pot.

The celebrations' came to an end,once the devotees partook the Prasadam ( food first offered to Lord Krishna ) Some of the photos depicting the event are shown below.
