THE KANDY CANCER HOSPITAL IN PROGRESS
The greatest joy in life is to leave behind some sort of LEGACY, which will be enjoyed by generations to come, and this has been what the SRI LANKA CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION - has been going during the past 3l years.

We thank God that in our 3l year journey, we have done some of the most remarkable projects in the history of SRI LANKA, which has up-lifted the life style of those in the country.

Firstly, the Braille Library, which opened the door and gave light to those who live in a dark world, due to the Braille library nearly 20 visually handicapped girls and boys were able to proceed with their further education, which they were unable to enjoy due to the lack of facilities they had. Then changing life style, the VEDDAH generation, their life style of earning their daily needs with the help of the Bow and Arrow(Hunting)the SLCA sent the first Veddah boy to University, now, over 20 have had a University education, taking them off the bow and arrow, and engaging them in clerical jobs.

Giving girls a future, even with little ones, they can stay at home and earn a living, also taking them off the streets, and giving them a secure future, by learning to sew.

Leprosy where people were not accepted into society, once again the SLCA broke that generational stigma, opening the door for them to step into society, Charmaine Jayetilleke MBE spent days visiting those institutions seeing to the needs of the leprosy sufferers, meeting with their relatives, and hearing their problems, SLCA built homes for some of the victims. The young girl, and the married mother had their door opened, as they were given classes in sewing and embroidery and the use of sewing machines, which they did not have.

Today we are raising funds to help with the building of the First ever Cancer Hospital in Kandy with up to date facilities.

Dear well-wishers of the SLCA, you all have family in Sri Lanka and CANCER does not come to certain people in society, it comes at random, young and old, rich and poor, any society of people, so we cater to all mankind, also we ,are helping people with various blood complications, by giving financial help to the hospital in Ragama.

SLCA IS ABLE TO TOUCH PEOPLES LIVES AND SEE TO THEIR NEEDS IS BECAUSE ,Charmaine Jayetilleke MBE the Founder of the SLCA sees to the needs of its people, because she spends her time with these people.
