Buddhist Naming Ceremony in Kendal Cumbria 25 February 2018
Venerable Pidiville Piyatissa (The Head of Ketumati Buddhist Vihara Manchester) has taught BGKT Buddhist Group of Kendal
He gave The Panca Sila (The Five Precepts) and Buddhist names to Upasaka Nanda from Keswick Buddhist Group and to Upasika Sunanda (the feminine final a is a long a with a bar on top) from BGKT, in a Ceremony at Fellside Centre Kendal.
Nanda means delight and Sunanda means greatest delight.
The most famous Nanda is Nanda Thera who was the half-brother of the Buddha. He became a Monk and achieved Arahantship. The Buddha stated that Nanda was the greatest of his disciples in self-control.
The best known Sunanda was the wife of Buddha Kassapa.
