BRISTOL BUDDHIST VIHARA KATINA CEREMONY 2016
Bristol Buddhist Vihara held a Kathina ceremony for the fifth time on Saturday 12th November 2016. It was organised by the devotees under my guidance of Ven Pelwatte Dhammananda Thero, the chief incumbent of the Bristol Buddhist Vihara. It was a remarkable success. There were sixteen monks at the ceremony from different Temples in London, Oxford and Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Liverpool. The Vihara was honoured by the presence at the ceremony, the Most Venerable PITIGALA GUNARATHANA Nayaka Thero.

This year, the main supporters were Mr. Amila Wasalathantri and his family, Mrs. Chamani Wasalathantri and Senuli Wasalathantri. They performed a great job of organising the Kathina.

A large number of people from Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton, Newport, Yeovil, Taunton and Gloucester came to the ceremony. They joined together in a great community full of happiness and to gain merit. There were a number of English people at the ceremony too, including Professor Rupert Gethin, Head of the Buddhist Studies Department of the University of Bristol and Senior Lecturer Rita Langer.
