BRISLA GROWS EU RELATIONSHIPS WITH BRUSSELS VISIT
The British Sri Lankan Association (BRISLA) paid a visit to Brussels this week to engage with MEPs and help build stronger relationships with colleagues from across Europe.

A group of 10 delegates, led by BRISLA chairman Dr Zimar Sivardeen, visited the Belgian capital on 2-3 May to attend a hearing at the European Parliament and witness first-hand the decision-making process behind policies and legislation affecting EU countries. The tour of the House of European History was very thought provoking and fascinating.

BRISLA also welcomed Dr Syed Kamall, Conservative MEP for London, to join the excursion, who was able to pass on his knowledge and experience on representing the UK at the European Parliament.

Dr Sivardeen says: "We were delighted to have Syed Kamall MEP join us for our visit to Brussels and help provide his expertise on the EU decision-making process." "With Brexit just around the corner, it is important for us an organisation to continue to engage with and strengthen relationships between British and Sri Lankan communities and our European counterparts."

BRISLA is a non political organisation dedicated to building partnerships and cultivating ties between the UK and Sri Lanka, and is dedicated to facilitating co-operation on issues including education, health and environmental factors.
