The British Sri Lankan Association (BRISLA)
develops strong ties at International Health Convention
The British Sri Lankan Association (BRISLA) attended a high profile convention in Barcelona bringing together leading professionals from more than 30 countries to discuss and share the latest research, education and clinical practice in optometry, optics and dispensing, and vision science. In this way BRISLA was able to fulfil one of its goals of developing stronger links between health and education.

Dr Zimar Sivardeen, Chairman of the British Sri Lankan Association (BRISLA) said: 'The event presented a great opportunity to engage and exchange ideas with a range of professionals from the UK, Europe and across the world.'

At the same meeting, Dr Sivardeen was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) in recognition of his services to professional eyecare.

'The award was very special for me as it gave me the opportunity to deliver BRISLA's objective of creating a fair and prosperous society through the engagement with diverse members of communities in Europe. One of BRISLA's aim is to strengthen the relationship between the UK and Sri Lanka on a multilateral basis.'
