BRISLA AWARDS 2018 TO RECOGNISE THE PIONEERING ACHIEVEMENT OF INDIVIDUALS
The British Sri-Lankan Association (BRISLA) is pleased to announce the return of its annual BRISLA Awards for the fourth consecutive year, with the upcoming event promising to be the biggest yet.

The BRISLA Awards 2018 will held on Saturday 13th October and will recognise the milestone contributions of individuals to the development of social cohesion and society.

Set against the backdrop of the historic Long Room at Lord's Cricket Ground, this year's awards will celebrate achievements across various fields, ranging from enterprise and healthcare, and will include a new Friend of Sri-Lanka category, which will honour efforts of individuals in developing relationships between UK and Sri-Lankan communities.

Last year's ceremony was attended by guests including Princess Katarina, representation from the Queen, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner and Geoff Miller OBE. In this year's special event a number of high profile guests have already been confirmed for this year's event, with bookings already closing fast.

Dr Zimar Sivardeen, Chairman of BRISLA, said: "The growth of the awards are a shared milestone to recognising the transformation impact of individuals across fields vital to society. This year, we are seeking to truly inspire the next generation and the importance of working together to develop and positively impact communities." The BRISLA Awards are the flagship event of the association, which held a mercantile trip to Sri-Lanka in 2017 and seeks to develop social cohesion, understanding and development across communities and nations. The association has an exciting array of events planned this year aiming to raise the profile of society. Nominations for the awards are now open and will close on 15th August 2018.

The categories are "Outstanding Friend to the British Sri Lankan community", "Outstanding achievement in Healthcare", "Outstanding contribution to the Arts", "Outstanding contribution to interfaith", "Local champion of the year", and "the Lifetime achievement award'.

Guests wishing to attend this prestigious evening should contact Dr Zimar Sivardeen at chairman@brisla.org.uk with individual seats available inclusive of a five-star dinner, souvenir booklet, networking opportunities and entertainment with Sir Anthony Seldon.
