The award ceremony, now in its third year, celebrates individuals and businesses that strive to improve humanity and societies, with a particular emphasis on Sri Lankan communities.

The prestigious awards ceremony, hosted by Mark Jones, Master of Ceremonies will take place on Saturday 14th October 2017 in the Long Room, Lord's Cricket Ground. Also in attendance will be Sir Geoff Miller OBE, Mike Gatting and Lord Popat at the Lords Pavilion.
Dr Sivardeen comments: 'As Chairman of BRISLA, I am honoured and privileged to see the amazing entries received each year.'

'During the judging process, we have some heated debates over who should become a shortlisted candidate because the calibre is always so high. We have a strict criteria to follow.'

'Our awards is very much a 'hearts and minds' campaign. Brilliant minds and Small Medium Enterprises achieve fantastic results whilst kind-hearted, modest individuals work tireless to support our cause and we remain ever grateful to both typologies.'

This year, BRISLA is looking forward to receiving stellar entrants from the below categories:

● Entrepreneur of the Year
● Outstanding Achievements in the Arts
● Lifetime Achievement Award
● Outstanding Achievement in Healthcare
● Local Community Hero of the Year
● Outstanding Contribution to Interfaith

The deadline for the awards is July 31st 2017. BRISLA would be delighted to see some inspiring local entries so are urging groups and individuals from all communities across the UK and Sri Lanka to nominate the rising stars of their sphere, or anyone whose work promotes the goals of the British Sri Lankan Association.

To enter the awards entries must be made in writing before the end of 31st of July 2017 and submitted either to the BRISLA committee or directly emailed to Dr Zimar Sivardeen at chairman@BRISLA.org.uk. Please see BRISLA website at www.brisla.org.uk.
