Adishtaana Pooja opposite the Ruwanweliseya Maha Chaithya
(By Sujeeva Nivunhella)

An Adishtaana Pooja will be held opposite the Ruwanweliseya Maha Chaithya in Anuradhapura on August 18th, 2018 in collaboration with 'Kalana Mithuro', a group of peace-loving people in Sri Lanka and abroad.

There are five key objectives of this religious ceremony; to invoke the blessings of the deities for the protection of Buddhism, to unite the Buddhist clergy in Sri Lanka and propagate the Dhamma, which has seen a gradual decline over the recent years, stress on the importance of observing the five precepts and eight precepts and observing Sil regularly, preventing any wars or bloodshed in the country in addition to granting solace to all children afflicted with mental and physical illnesses in the world and bringing mental peace to their parents.

There will be an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony by a 1,000 Buddhist monks, who will be offered 'Heel Dana' in the morning. An 'Ata Visi Buddha Pooja' will also be conducted with 28 newly-built Buddha statues placed at the Ruwanweliseya Maha Chaithya.

The organisers invite devotees living across the world to participate in the very special Pooja. Those unable to physically attend the ceremony can link up by lighting a lamp or candle at 10.10 pm (22.10hrs) on August 18th. More information can be obtained from www.kalanamithuro.com
