A literary event in UK to commemorate the life and work of
Professor Punchi Bandara Sannasgala
The Autumn Charity Ball 2016. London The North West Sri Lankan Literary Society in the UK, formed in 2009, is holding an event on the 7th of October 2017 titled, “From Small Beginnings to Great Heights; Professor Punchi Bandara Sannasgala and his contribution to Sinhala Literature”.

The event is organised to commemorate the 20th death anniversary of Professor Sannasgala by the society President, Dr M Gonsalkorale, Secretaries Dr R De Soysa and Dr N Nirmlan.

Once described as the live wire of the Oriental study circle Professor Sannasgala's contribution to Sinhala Literature spans nearly half a century during which he published innumerable books under his sole authorship. Later in his life he moved on to lexicography and became the Editor-in-chief of the SriLankan Dictionary Office and was instrumental in completing the Sinhala Dictionary.

The speaker at the event is Dr Manouri Senaratne, a daughter of Professor Sannasgala.
