A French National becomes a monk
Under the guidance of the Head of The Paris International Buddhist Centre, Most Ven. Paravahera Chandarathana Nayaka Thera, a French national ordained as a Buddhist Monk.

Many supporters of the temple from various nationalities and the resident monks, Ven. Borelle Kovida, Ven. Aluthgama Sumedha, Ven. Mapalagama Jinaananda and Ven. Kandavinne Rahula attended the programme.

The ordination procedure know, as the 'Going forth', began with the applicant's formal request (Pabbajja) to Ven. Chandarathana Nayaka Thera for the novice (samanera) ordination.

On receiving permission, the applicant prepared for the ceremony by acquiring a complete set of robes and getting the help of the monks in the International Buddhist Centre to shave his head.Then he approached the senior monk and payed his respects by bowing three times and hands over the robes saying a passage prescribed for the purpose. Then he formally asked Ven. Chandarathana to give him the robes, and having received them he is helped by the monks to put them on. Ven. Chandarathana as his teacher, acquiescing administer the Three Refuges and the Ten Precepts or training rules.
